Hanjin has made a great contribution to the development of the Korean coastal shipping industry since 1970s by promoting a balanced growth with other modes of transportation.
In 1991, Hanjin launched the container liner service between the ports of Busan and Incheon and introduced seven special vessels for cold-rolled steel products in 1993. Presently, with a total vessel tonnage of 95,000 DWT and 21 freighters, Hanjin carries different cargos including container ones, steel products, coal, radioactive waste and etc calling at major ports of Busan, Incheon, Pohang, Gwangyang, Jeju, Pyongtaek, Boryeong, Mokpo, Ulsan.
In 2004, Hanjin launched the steel outward shipping service of POSCO in China, Japan, and Hong Kong. Hanjin provides shipping services for steel, grain, and other natural resources between North-East Asia and mid-Asia.
